Message If you're using a cam degree wheel, and you found TDC (compression stroke) of cylinder 1 and have accurately set your 0* marker:

Put your dial indicator on the top of the exhaust valve/spring for cyl 1. Rotate until you get to the max lift (zero your indicator at this value)

Lets say arbitrarily this is between 110* and 120 degrees (dwell)

Rotate your engine clockwise until you get to some number (0.050" is commonly used). Now record the reading on the degree wheel (lets say 125*)

Next rotate the engine back counter-clockwise, past the '0.000' dwell, back to that same number (we used 0.050"). Now record that degree wheel reading (lets say 110*)

Take the average of those two values, that will be your cam centerline (in this example 117.5*)

Repeat for the intake cam.

In order to do the other bank you have to set the degree wheel off cylinder 2 TDC.
